On July 10th Tyson went to U-haul to pick up the trailer and I went to work. Thankfully there was cake, otherwise I'm not sure how I would have gotten through my day. Excited to see 5pm I headed straight to my mom's where I was meeting Ty so we could pick up the boxes we'd stored at her house. On the 11th we packed up the rest of it, loaded up both of our cars, and on Monday bright and early 6:30am we headed out on the road one way, non-stop to Loranger, La where we were to stay. 14 long hours later we arrived. Tyson's step mom met us at the door with a plate of red beans and rice so big you'd have thought there were 4 more people arriving behind us. I'm not sure if we were hungry or if the food is just that good. Before I knew it I was licking my plate. We passed out that night.
Tuesday we headed straight into the city to look for an apartment. We had scheduled a meeting on Royal and while we were waiting decided to walk the block a bit. On the way to the bathroom at Cafe Du Monde we passed by a for rent sign hanging above a doorway lit by 2 gas lanterns. I called and Dave agreed to meet us in 5 minutes. Perfect. We had a lot of ground to cover. When he opened the door it led down a quiet corridor to the loveliest patio I think I've ever seen. The double doors open to a fleur de lys painted into the concrete floor. It matched Dave's earrings. The kitchen was totally upgraded with new appliances and a stackable washer and dryer unit. We had only begun but I had a feeling about this one.
We met the realator at the other unit and after walking the city and driving around looking at countless other units headed back to Loranger.
Wednesday we headed back to the city. More apartment hunting and Ty filled out a couple of job applications. After the obvious jimmy on the lock on the last apartment we decided to call it a day. We had some lunch and made a decision. We called Dave and let him know we wanted the apartment. Oh and did I mention that we needed to be in our new place by Friday? No pressure right. Dave gave us all of the utlities information and promised to help us out and have the lights on by Friday. He happens to know the guy that turns on all of the power in the French Quarter. Handy, huh?
Thursday we took a bit of a day off and planned for our moving trips into the city.
Friday. Oh Friday. That is a story for another day I think. Good night.
